Role of McMaster University and the Health TAPESTRY Central Team

McMaster University provides guidance and support to the implementation and on-going operation of Health TAPESTRY. McMaster is responsible for the overall management, ongoing monitoring and rigorous oversight of the project.

The Health TAPESTRY Central Team is part of the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. The team works to manage the Health TAPESTRY Collaborative, including guiding the development of new Health TAPESTRY projects and making connections between projects, sites, and organizations.

Expertise at the Team includes:

  • research and evaluation;
  • project management;
  • community and stakeholder engagement; and
  • information technology.

Health TAPESTRY Ontario Governance Team

The Health TAPESTRY Governance Team at the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of Health TAPESTRY. The team consists of multiple roles, including:

Academic Lead

  • Oversees the scientific integrity of the project and provides advice and direction regarding the development, implementation, evaluation, and research activities
  • Guides recruitment of Primary Care Organizations and a Volunteer Organization
  • Creates formal and informal networking opportunities with local community service organizations

Practice Model Lead

  • Guides the development, implementation and ongoing operation of the program
  • Provides guidance to Local Practice Model Champions in each primary care site to support them in leading the adoption of the Health TAPESTRY approach
  • Oversees the integration of Health TAPESTRY volunteers as extended members of primary care teams

Evaluation Lead

  • Develops the evaluation strategy and research protocol, in collaboration with other Leads
  • Carries out the evaluation of the project
  • Identifies and participates in knowledge translation (KT) activities with stakeholders
  • Disseminates findings through publications and presentations including academic and knowledge user environments

Digital Health Lead

  • Manages the various eHealth technology elements of Health TAPESTRY
  • Maintains information technology process flow and methodology

Volunteer & Community Lead

  • Represents the lead volunteer organization, the Canadian Red Cross, on the Governance Team
  • Oversees the recruitment, selection, training, retention, and recognition of Health TAPESTRY volunteers
  • Participates in the identification and recruitment of Primary Care Organizations
  • Advises on the integration of system navigation and community engagement in Health TAPESTRY

Program Manager

  • Leads the day-to-day operations of the project
  • Oversees the work plan, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
  • Maintains communication between participating sites, organizes meetings, and liaises with Leads
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and dissemination of all aspects of the project
